Fun in the Flatlands - With School Bus Races

Fun in the Flatlands & 4-H Achievement Day. This festival is held the second weekend in September. It is a fun weekend offering something for everyone! The big event day is on Saturday, Sept. 9th.

Join us for a full day of fun in Ada, MN! There will be a Backyard BBQ/Rib Cook Off, Craft Show, Parade, Music, Pioneer Days and a Pioneer Food Court, Food Stands, Children's Games, Bus Races, Chair Races, Karaoke, Balloon Art and so much more!

4-H Achievement day is held Sunday at the Norman County Fairgrounds.

A craft show will be held from 9 am until 3 pm on Saturday, September 9th at Fun in the Flatlands. Contact Angie Nelson at angiecokley@gmail.com at 218-784-3809 to sign up. A space is $15.

Customer Appreciation, Fall Fundraiser with Catered Supper & Fashion Show, Outdoor Movie & more!

  • 11 am – 1 pm – Customer Appreciation Picnic at American Federal Bank
  • 4 - 6 pm – Happy Hour at Pub 21. $1 off all burgers tonight!
  • 6:00 pm – Norman County DAC & Hidden Treasures Fall Fundraiser Event at Ada Event Center. Catered dinner, fashion show, silent auction, raffles and lots of fun.Tickets $25 available at door.Funds used for completion of sensory room project.
  • 8:00 pm – Outdoor Movie at Ada-Borup Elementary playground area. Family Friendly Movie (Free Will Donation) - Fundraiser Ada-Borup PTC

  • ALL DAY – Free Golf at the Heart of the Valley Golf Course Additional specials at clubhouse.
  • 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. – Craft and Produce Market at the West Side Park. To reserve a space call Angie Nelson at 784-5456.
  • 9:00 am – 3:00 pm – Prairie Village open. Check out the Log Museum, Print Shop, Churches, Schoolhouse, Country Store, Barber & Beauty Shop, Log House, Doll House, Syre Depot & the Machinery Building.Learn about each site from members of the Norman County Historical Society!

  • 10:00 am- 3 pm – Horse Show at Arena at NC Fairgrounds (Red River Valley Saddle Club)
  • 11 a.m. – Fun in the Flatlands/4-H Achievement Day Parade (Just show up! Line up by Frandsen Bank & Trust ½ hour prior to parade. Parade travels south on West Main St. then west on 2nd St. & ends at school.
  • 11 a.m. – 3 pm – Fun Activities at the Coliseum
  • Pioneer Food Court.Food from the “Good Old Days” including Potato Dumplings, Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup, Flat Bread, Lefse, apple deserts, rommegrot, ice cream, homemade bread & jelly, popcorn balls, sausage & kraut, homemade beans and more!(Fundraiser sponsored by the Norman County Historical Society.Tickets sold at the door)
  • *Ongoing demonstrations and displays in Coliseum to include barn quilts, Aalgaard Photo Selection, Denny Brandt Glass Collection, Spinning, Old Toys, Historic Fashion and Design with 18 manikins and 10 models. In the Coliseum (Norman County Historical Society).
  • Afternoon -Fun events downtown in the West Side Park and at the Ribfest area in front of Pub 21 including Fun Kids Games, Skipper the Clown, Food Stands, Craft Activities, Karaoke, Bean Bag Games and so much more!

  • All Afternoon-Horseshoes Pits are available at the West Side Park (bring your own shoes)
  • 1:00 – 3:00 pm – High Hopes Red River Rustic Women’s Soiree Fundraiser Event at Ada Event Center.Social Hour with salads, desserts & wine.Silent auction & raffles. Ticket $15 donation. Buy tickets are High Hopes & McCollum Hardware or call Jen at 218-474-0435.
  • 1:00 pm – Bean Bag Tournament in front of Pub 21.Sign up at Pub 21.Starts shortly after.
  • 2:30 – 3:30 pm – Ribfest People’s Choice competition Tasting and Judging (open to the public)
  • 4:00 – 6:00 pm – Happy Hour at Pub 21
  • 5:00 – 7:00 pm (or until gone) – Hog Roast, corn on the cob, fresh cut fries by Pub 21/West Side Park area. (Free-will donation)
  • 6:15 pm – Awards Presentation for BBQ Cook-off – Downtown Ada
  • 7:30 pm – School Bus Races & Business Chair Races at Norman County Raceway. Chair races prize for 1st and 2nd place and most creative team uniform. 2 people per team, maximum of 16 teams.$10 entry per business.(Chair races first, bus races to follow)

74th Annual 4-H Achievement Day & Horse Show & Free Golf!

Sponsored by the Norman County 4-H Federation in cooperation with the Ada Future Leaders, Ada Chamber of Commerce, Lions Clubs throughout Norman County and the Minnesota Extension Service

  • ALL DAY – Free Golf at the Heart of the Valley Golf Course. Additional specials at clubhouse.

  • 12:00 – 4:00 pm –at Dekko Center, Fun Afternoon with Pool Inflatable’s for only $2 a person
  • 1:00 p.m. - Weigh Beef, Sheep, Rabbits, Goats & Swine
  • 2:00 p.m. - Enter non-livestock exhibits at the Livestock Pavilion
  • 2:30 p.m. - Judging of Market Steer, Lambs, and Goats & Barrows for Livestock show begins
  • 2:30 p.m. - Judging of fall produce exhibits
  • 3:00 p.m. - Judging of rabbits & poultry
  • 6:00 p.m. – Achievement Day/Buyer’s Supper at 4-H Building
  • 7:15 p.m. - Awards Program, Don Kroshus Livestock Pavilion
  • 7:30 p.m. – Auction Sale for of live rabbits, sheep, poultry, sheep vegetables, swine, beef, potatoes, flowers, grain and canning - Livestock Pavilion
